DOHA: As part of efforts to develop a world-class shopping destination at The Pearl-Qatar, United Development Company (UDC), the developer of the The Pearl, and Blue Salon Company yesterday inked an agreement to open retail outlets of leading global brands at the artificial island.
It was signed by Acting CEO of UDC, Badr Al Meer, and Vice-Chairman of Blue Salon Nabil Abu Issa at a function at Oyster, the Sales and Marketing Centre at the manmade island.
Present were Ehab Kamel, General Manager, Retail Leasing, UDC, Fawaz Idrissi, CEO of Blue Salon, and other dignitaries.
Blue Salon will facilitate the opening of retail outlets of leading brands such as Blue Salon Kids, Nespresso, Ethan Allen, Samsung, Mimisol, Toys 4 me, Pressto, Gina, Kartell, and Oasis of Soul.
Spanning in an area of nearly four million square metres, The Pearl is the first land in Qatar to be available for freehold ownership by foreigners.
Nearly 60 percent of the project is almost complete with 45 percent occupancy, but once fully completed, it will create over 32km of new coastline for use as a residential estate with an expected 15,000 dwellings and 45,000 residents.
The Pearl is the first of its kind location where two high-end brands will be simultaneously operating — Ethan Allen and Nespresso in Qatar.
Al Meer said: “The Pearl has succeeded in attracting some of the world’s leading brands due to the special environment at the island, which combines fun shopping on the waterfront, the presence of high-end marinas, and the elegant design of the shops that have been inspired by Italian, Spanish and Moroccan architecture.
“With more shops and restaurants, The Pearl features high-quality merchandise, world-class food and the best in fashion and offers exceptional shopping, extraordinary dining and exhilarating experience for all ages
“The presence of these global brands at The Pearl, one of the best projects in the region, will further raise the profile of the island,” he added.
Abu Issa said: “The opening of new brands at The Pearl is an important step within our strategy to provide superior products.
“We believe the new outlets will be a tremendous addition to The Pearl in terms of our focus on proving access to quality brands and products in an environment dedicated to customer service and satisfaction.
“We are proud to launch these global products at The Peal and excited about the future that we’re building a vibrant retail scene in Doha that will benefit the local community and residents of The Pearl.” He said The Pearl with a number of retail shops, world-class restaurants and recreational facilities will position itself as a destination for distinctive luxury and elegance.
