Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, assumed yesterday the presidency of the 42nd Meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs during its opening session.
She asserted that the meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs represents a point of agreement to further proceed with the joint Arab efforts in the field of social development.
The Minister revealed that a roadmap for the features of the upcoming period that anticipates challenges, solution prospects and programmes for overcoming the barriers, has been set through activating the plans and initiatives and carrying out development and social projects in the Arab countries.
While the 42nd meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs is being concluded after it has shown great effort, strong keenness and credible intentions to fulfill the aspirations of the Arab citizens in eradicating multidimensional poverty, ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, achieving the development goals and bolstering the joint Arab action, however, such conclusion carries the meanings of beginning for what will be true in the future, H E Al Misnad said in the closing session of the 42nd meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs.
The Minister pointed out that the implementation of the development plans at the social level cannot, and should not be postponed or deliberated, especially since the file of social development is one of the most exigent files in the Arab region, due to the emergence of new signs of economic conditions that candidly squeeze the joints of the social structure of societies. However, such conditions will never be solved unless cooperation is made to overcome those global conditions through joint hard work.
H E Al Misnad thanked and appreciated all participating entities that exhibited their unwavering desire to set the Arab programs, projects and initiatives that aim to develop the Arab citizen and promote his social situation, expressing her appreciation to the Ministry of Social Development and Family in the State of Qatar, and the Technical-Secretariat of development affairs sector of the Arab League for their role in ensuring the success of the event.
She also expressed her thanks and appreciation for the trust placed in her by Their Excellencies the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, and their support for Her Excellency to assume the presidency of the 42nd Meeting of the Council.
The 42nd Meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs discussed a number of important issues that are priority for joint Arab social development action, at the forefront of this is continuing of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially in its social dimensions that affect the life of the Arab citizen, in addition to issues related to the weak and vulnerable groups in society, especially persons with disabilities, and ways to increase their inclusion in all fields of public life, issues related to efforts to eradicate poverty in all iwts dimensions, and other related issues and files.
