DOHA: Qatari writers and intellectuals will gather once again for the second edition of Katara Cultural Forum on March 10 at Katara Building 15.
The forum will discuss the role of media in cultural development with the participation of media, academics, writers, experts and concerned individuals.
Topics include the role of TV channels in enhancing culture, the present and future role of print media, new media and cultural development and media freedom and cultural development.
Some authors who published books during the first quarter of the year will be honoured at the event.
Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said Katara, in organizing such cultural events and activities, aims to activate the cultural movement in the country and strengthen communication among authors, artists, intellectuals and people concerned on cultural affairs and cultural institutions in a way that promotes the cultural scene in Qatar, GCC and Arab countries.
“We are trying to make Katara a suitable environment for cultural activities and encourage creativity and innovation to contribute to disseminating cultural awareness by organising symposiums, seminars and many other relevant activities,” he said.
He said the initiative is an important part of the long-term Strategy of Katara toward sustainable cultural development and giving way for Qatari talent and innovation to interact internationally by creating foundation for real cultural development.
Some of the aims of the Forum, he said, include looking for talented Qataris, developing their abilities, and encouraging them by publishing their works as well as introducing Qatari culture and art locally and internationally. The Peninsula
