Doha: Al Ahli will be looking to register their third successive  win when they take on Al Shamal in the 19th round match of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) here today.
Coach Zlatko Krajncar side are in the fifth place behind fourth-placed Qatar SC and El Jaish, which is in third place.
Al Shamal, languishing at the bottom of the league, are without a win and with just seven points compared to Al Ahli’s 26.
Al Ahli coach Krajncar said despite having the points advantage against their name today’s match will not be easy for his team
“The game will not be easy. We will play against Shamal who desperately needs points because they are in a difficult situation. But we need points too, to climb up the table. It’s a kind of game that will be risky for us. We are coming from two good wins. We have to maintain the level of performance which we showed in our previous two games,” Krajncar said.
“When I came here I found a good bunch of players who had good work ethics. I tweaked the team a bit, tactically and fortunately the players adapted quickly to what I wanted and they applied it in these two games. Now I am trying to make it more efficient.”
In the other three matches today, Qatar SC take on Al Gharafa, while Al Wakrah face Umm Salal and Al Shahaniya square off to Al Khor.
Tomorrow league leaders Al Sadd face second placed Lekhwiya.
Al Sadd has 43 points while Lekhwiya have one less. El Jaish and Qatar SC, both have 32 points. THE PENINSULA
