DOHA: The sixth Empower Youth Conference by Reach Out To Asia (Rota) opens today at Qatar Foundation Student Centre.
Up to 450 youth between 16 and 26 years from various countries are attending the three-day forum on leadership, service learning, global citizenship, integrating sports, the environment, skills development and the Arabic language
“We are very excited to launch EMPOWER 2014. It will focus on sports for youth empowerment and provide our youth with experiences to be shared by renowned international figures, including activist and philanthropist Dr Auma Obama, through a video message by UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace Wilfried Lemke in addition to activists from different countries,” said Essa Al Mannai, Rota Executive Director.
Tomorrow, delegates will attend 10 concurrent workshops and a seminar. The final day will be dedicated to service learning, including offsite activities, flash stories from around the world and cultural performances.
