DOHA: Kites of various colours, shapes and sizes will adorn the skies over Katara tomorrow when professional kite flyers show off their skills in the Korean Kite Flying show.
Organised by Katara and the South Korean Embassy in cooperation with the Korean Kite Fliers Association, the event, which will run from 10am to 6pm, will see professional kite flyers manoeuvre kites, some of which will have traditional Korean designs.
Started centuries ago, kite flying has deep roots in Korea’s history and has become not only a hobby but a form of traditional sport.
A number of other events and activities are in store for visitors to Katara this weekend.
In collaboration with the Moldovan Embassy, a musical show featuring traditional Moldovan music will be held at Katara Opera House tonight.
More than 30 people, most of them children, will take part in an origami workshop at Katara Studios in Building 19. The workshop is being hosted by Katara Studios every Saturday in March and April and conducted by artist Afsheen from 2pm to 4pm and from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
A workshop on ‘Contemporary Collage’ will be conducted by artist Jonathan Machado today at 5pm and tomorrow at 8pm at Katara Studios.
