Challenges facing Islamic banking industry reviewed

Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Research Studies and Consulting in Islamic Banking, chairing the meeting yesterday.

DOHA: The Board of Trustees for Research Studies and Consulting in Islamic Banking held its meeting and discussed the growing opportunities and challenges facing the global Shariah-compliant banking and financial industry.  
The meeting, chaired by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, also discussed the strengthening role of the company in Islamic banking services.
Also present at the meeting were Dr Walid bin Hadi, General Supervisor, and members of the Trustees Council. 
The meeting also discussed the company’s work-plan for the coming period and its mandate to further strengthening its role in serving the Islamic Banking sector in Qatar and overseas. 
The meeting stressed that with growing size of the global Islamic banking industry, the task of the company has also become more indispensable as it aims at playing important role in addressing some of the key challenges facing the industry. 
The company, since its inception, has been filling the gaps which the system lacked through  discussions and reproducing them with creativity. 
The participants of the meeting expressed their desire to expanding the scope and areas of studies of the institute and disseminating the concept and benefits of Islamic banking at global level as more economies in the world are encouraging and attracting the Islamic banking system.   
The meeting also discussed some administrative and organisational aspects of the company and decisions were taken in this regard.
