DOHA: Social media in the region became overactive yesterday with news of another GCC citizen having been detained at Dubai airport while in transit. People commenting on Twitter from across the region aired fury over the arrest of a GCC national they identified as Salah Al Yafei.
The alleged arrest comes just two months after a Qatari, Dr Mahmoud Al Jaidah, was held at Dubai airport while he was in transit, travelling from Bangkok to Doha.
An angry commentator on Twitter warned fellow GCC citizens against travelling via Dubai, suggesting one never knew when one would be detained. “Al Yafei has nothing to do with politics. So why has he been picked up,” asked an irate woman commentator.
