DOHA: Qatar is emerging as a new aviation hub in the region with Doha International Airport (DIA) witnessing an impressive double-digit growth in the number of passengers travelling through its doors in March 2014 year-on-year.
In a press statement DIA yesterday announced that the airport registered a 13.85 percent increase in the passenger footfall in March 2014 compared to March 2013. A total of about 2.13 million (2,129,639) travellers departed, transferred and arrived into Qatar during March, reinforcing Doha’s importance as an international transport hub.
Cargo numbers also remained buoyant with an additional 14.83 percent traffic year-on-year. As Qatar Airways Cargo grows its global freight business, it continues to enhance its cargo facility and transport, offering premium and innovative products such as QR Pharma and QR Fresh.
Inbound mail traffic increased through DIA by 9.33 percent compared to March 2013 and aircraft movements grew by 7.83 percent year-on-year.

To ensure passengers are provided with a comfortable, safe and enjoyable travel experience, DIA management has implemented a range of measures to significantly improve its infrastructure and manage capacity.
