Doha: El Jaish and Al Gharafa cruised into the semi-finals of the Qatar Basketball Cup after outclassing their respective opponents in the quarter-finals, yesterday at the Al Gharafa Sports Club.
In the first quarter-final, hosts Al Gharafa prevailed over in-form Al Rayyan by 83-73, following a display of fine teamwork.
Monroe Samuel Junior, who fired 27 points and Downey Devan Deangelo (25 points) were outstanding for the winning side.
The other quarter-final saw El Jaish surpassing Al Arabi 79-67, thanks to a brilliant show by Taggart Shawn Larell who scored 23 points. Apart from Larell, Macklin Vernon Leon (15) and Abilmona Fadi Hani (14) were the other top scorers for El Jaish. THE PENINSULA
