A storytelling session for children to mark Garangao in Berlin, Germany. The Arab Cultural House 'The Diwan' under the auspices of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Berlin holds several cultural and educational events for people of Arab and Gulf origin
Berlin: The Arab Cultural House “The Diwan” in Germany, under the auspices of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Berlin, organised a festive event on the occasion of “Garangao,” which is usually celebrated by the Gulf peoples on the 15th night of the blessed month of Ramadan.
The event was attended by a limited number of members of the Arab and Gulf community, due to the current health conditions of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The celebration featured several Ramadan competitions and entertainment activities for children, including educational lessons on playing musical instruments, and storytelling sessions for children about folk stories and novels, in addition to performing several Ramadan folk songs inspired by the Gulf heritage.
The Diwan aims to organise such events to familiarise the new generations with Qatari and Gulf customs and traditions and link the children of Arab expatriates in Germany with their motherland.
