Doha: Qatar University (QU) has welcomed the Argentinian team’s selection of the QU campus as their base camp for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. An Argentinian delegation recently visited the university and inspected the facilities. For the World Cup, Argentina, two-time champions of the competition, have been drawn in Group C, alongside Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.
In a statement, Qatar University President Dr. Hassan Al Derham said, “The University welcomes the Argentinian team selection of Qatar University as the headquarters for its team. The delegation from the team has visited the university, its sports facilities and housing units. Every facility has the best infrastructure with international specifications, as we desire to serve with the best as always.”
Qatar University has opened three sports complexes that provide the opportunity to practice outdoor sports and an indoor gym for women. These facilities host various sports, including football, volleyball, handball, basketball, tennis, swimming, water polo, squash, gyms, etc.
