Emir receives phone call from US President

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday received a telephone call from US President Barack Obama.

During the call, the Emir and the US President reviewed bilateral relations and means  of boosting them. The two leaders also exchanged  views  on a number of regional and international  issues. QNA

 

Culture Minister for China forum

 

Doha: The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who is also Head of the 13th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad XIII) will leave for the People’s Republic of China today to participate in the Global Services Forum, which begins in Beijing.

During the two-day event, Dr Al Kuwari will head a session related to culture and services, and will also deliver two statements, the first on services and global trade and the current  scene in this respect, its evaluation and development, and the second on the culture and trade with a special focus on Qatar’s experience, its pillars and components. QFCHT programme on human trafficking

DOHA: Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT) continues the implementation of programmes of the Arab Initiative for Building National Capacities to Combat Human Trafficking, in collaboration with UNODC, for the second year. 

Three programmes of the initiative’s second year will be implemented between May 27 and 29 at the Millennium Hotel.  The three programmes will focus on ‘Training of trainers in the field of combating human trafficking,’ ‘Building organisational and leadership capacities to combat human trafficking’ and ‘Building capacities of professionals concerned with business and employment.’ The programme’s objective is to prepare trainers specialised in combating human trafficking, development of leadership capacities and encourage efforts in combating human trafficking. 

Experts from QFCHT, the UN, a group of international experts in the field of combating human trafficking and other parties will participate in the three-day programme.

The Peninsula
