Young brigade leads the charge in Qatar

Qatar’s Waleed Majid in action duirng his match against Darren Appleton of Great Britain at the 2014 World 9-ball Championship (W9BC) at Al Sadd Stadium in Doha yesterday.

Doha: Neils Feijen of the Netherlands will take on Elmer D Haya of Phillipines while  Chang Yu Lung of Chinese Tapei will face Albin Ouschan of Austria in semi-finals of the 2014 World 9-ball Championship (W9BC) at today afternoon at Al Sadd Stadium.
Haya defeated compatriot Johann Chua 11-7. The Filipino will take on Feijen. The Dutchman ousted Carlo Biado the last top ten player left in the reckoning.
With the exist of world number two Biado a next generation of superstar is all set to lay his hands on the glittering trophy in today’s final.
Earlier, Chua ended Qatar’s Waleed Majed impressed run in the quarter-finals. Majed lost 8-11. Majed who defeated former world champion Darren Appleton 11-9 in the round of 32 could not repeat the trick against Chua.
Yesterday last-16 loss for Majed was the best for a Qatari player at the world championship.  There was more disappointment for Qatar. Last year’s runners-up and Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation coach Antonio Gabica of Phillipines lost to Korean opponent Ryu Seung Woo.
