Montreal--The Women's World Cup quarter-final between Germany and France went into extra time on Friday after the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
Louisa Necib opened the scoring for third-ranked France after 64 minutes at Montreal's Olympic Stadium but Celia Sasic equalised with a penalty six minutes from time.
The winner will play either the United States or China in the semi-finals next Tuesday.
