Banjul: The Republic of The Gambia expressed its solidarity with the State of Qatar following Iran's attack on Al Udeid Air Base earlier this week, calling for the resolution of disputes through peaceful means and in accordance with international law.

The Gambia's Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation And Gambians Abroad said in a statement on Friday: "The Government of The Gambia expresses its deep concern over the missile attack against the State of Qatar," expressing concern over any act that endangers international peace, security, and regional stability.

"As a country that firmly upholds the principles of sovereignty, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence, The Gambia calls for calm, restraint, and a commitment to resolving differences through diplomatic means," the statement added pointing that The Gambia "stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar during this difficult time and urges all parties involved to prioritise dialogue and the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter."

"The Gambia remains committed to regional and global efforts aimed at preserving peace and preventing further escalation," the statement affirmed.
