Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Haj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia announced that citizens would be able to invite friends from around the world to visit through a ‘Personal Visit Visa’.

The visas are available for both single and multiple entries, and can be obtained online, noted the Ministry.

Single-entry visas are good for 90 days, while multiple-entry ones are good for a year with 90 days stay per visit.

In addition to allowing the visitor the right to perform Umrah and visit the holy sites in Madinah, the visa allows its bearer to visit historical sites and other cultural destinations in various cities of Saudi Arabia.

The visa holder can also make “touristy trips” to all regions and cities inside the country.

Last year, Saudi allowed visitors on tourist or business visa to perform Umrah. Before that, performing the holy Islamic ritual required an Umrah-specific visa.
