Doha, Qatar: The first edition of the “Saturday Summer Sports Forum” organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for its employees and their children over the age of 15 has witnessed strong participation and interaction during its first week, combining sports activities with social engagement in a vibrant summer atmosphere.

The month-long initiative, organised by the Ministry’s Public Relations and Communication Department as part of its summer programmes, will continue until August 22, 2026. It features two main activities: “Cool Your Summer with Your Colleagues” during the morning period and the “Sports Forum Champion” competitions in the evening after Asr prayers.

The programme aims to promote physical activity, enhance employee wellbeing, strengthen bonds among colleagues and their families, and create a positive and balanced work environment. It reflects the Ministry’s commitment to encouraging healthy lifestyles and supporting human development goals in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry’s Strategic Plan 2025-2030, which emphasises investment in people and the creation of a motivating workplace environment.

The morning activity, “Cool Your Summer with Your Colleagues,” was held at Al Andalus Educational Complex from 7am to 10am, allowing participants to enjoy swimming facilities and recreational activities suitable for the summer season.

The Ministry provided a safe sporting environment, with three swimming coaches supervising participants throughout the activity to ensure safety standards and provide guidance.

The event also offered an opportunity for employees to interact outside the formal workplace setting, enhancing friendship, teamwork and social connections while encouraging regular physical activity.

Participants praised the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to meet colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere that combines exercise and entertainment. They highlighted the good organisation and safety measures, saying such programmes contribute to employee wellbeing and strengthen relationships among staff members.

Meanwhile, the evening programme, “Sports Forum Champion,” was launched at Omar bin Al Khattab Secondary School for Boys, attracting significant participation from employees and their children. The competitions included football, volleyball, basketball and other sporting activities held at the school’s indoor facilities.
