Tripoli: One person was killed and others were injured as a result of clashes which erupted erupting between armed factions in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in which light and medium weapons were used.
In a brief statement, carried by the Libyan News Agency (LANA), the media office called on the Libyan Ambulance and Emergency Service to stop the clashes that erupted yesterday evening and continued today, blaming the parties to the clashes responsible for the safety of civilians.
Spokesman for the Ambulance and Emergency Service Osman Ali confirmed that he "received reports of injuries among civilians as a result of the clashes that took place last night in a number of neighborhoods of the capital, Tripoli," explaining that the ambulance teams were unable to move and enter the streets because of these clashes.
The Spokesman announced the death of Mustafa Baraka in the Al-Zawiya Street area, and the injury of a female citizen on Al-Maarri Street in Tripoli.
The Ambulance and Emergency Service launched a state of maximum readiness for its offices in Tripoli and its suburbs, calling on citizens who live in buildings with floors not to stand on balconies and to use the lower floors.
