Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) held its annual educational meeting for academic year 2025-26 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) yesterday. 

The meeting comes as part of the “Back to School 2025” activities, serving as a platform to bring together school leaders, teachers, and students, and to share with them the Ministry’s strategic directions for the new academic year.

The gathering also reviewed the Ministry’s major achievements from the previous academic year and highlighted the initiatives and efforts carried out across its various sectors. It also addressed the ongoing preparations aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful start to the new school year, with a focus on enhancing the quality of education and further advancing the country’s overall educational process.

The event was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Khater, President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau H E Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, alongside senior education and administrative leaders.

The Minister honoured 28 teachers from the sixth cohort of the “Tamheen” programme, implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with the Bureau. The programme aims to attract and train national talents to join the teaching profession, thereby enriching the educational environment with qualified Qatari professionals.

Addressing the event, MoEHE Undersecretary H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, described the “Back to School” event as an inspiring milestone that signals a new beginning for students and educators alike. He extended a warm welcome to new students, teachers, and administrators joining Qatar’s education community, wishing them success in their journeys. Al-Nuaimi emphasised that the event aims to prepare all stakeholders for a strong start to the school year, strengthen partnerships between the Ministry and the community, and highlight the Ministry’s strategic projects. The programme included a range of workshops and activities designed to boost motivation among students and educators. Reflecting on the Ministry’s achievements over the past year, he highlighted the expansion of kindergarten and inclusive schools, the introduction of education vouchers for students with disabilities, and new initiatives in early intervention and inclusive education.

He also pointed to curriculum development projects that align with global technological advances, as well as the expansion of scholarship programmes at prestigious universities in Qatar and abroad, ensuring alignment with labour market needs and Qatar National Vision 2030. 

Al-Nuaimi reiterated that the Ministry’s approach is rooted in balanced, integrated strategies that support economic diversification and the state’s transition to a knowledge-based economy. 

Teachers remain at the core of development efforts, while students are the primary beneficiaries through advanced training programmes and enriched learning opportunities.

He noted that the Ministry continues to expand pathways for recruiting Qatari teachers through programmes such as “Tomouh”, empowerment initiatives, and professional development initiatives. With the new academic year, he affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to delivering world-class education that equips students for regional and global competitiveness.

Al-Nuaimi revealed the opening of a wide range of new schools offering education aligned with the highest international standards, while safeguarding national identity and the values cherished by Qatari society.

He underscored that student well-being remains a strategic priority, with efforts focused on creating stimulating and supportive learning environments that directly enhance academic performance and personal growth.

He further praised the role of the Ministry’s partners across society in supporting education and enriching the experience of both students and parents. “Educating future generations is a shared responsibility that can only be achieved through the collaboration of all institutions—official and non-official—across the country,” he affirmed.
