Doha, Qatar: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced the accreditation of the first batch of Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) as part of its efforts to develop the energy efficiency services market in the State of Qatar and enhance the quality and reliability of services provided to facilities and buildings, including consumption efficiency audit services.
This initiative supports the achievement of the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, the Third National Development Strategy (QNDS3), and the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed” in improving resource efficiency and advancing sustainability.
The first batch includes four accredited companies: Conserve Green Building & MEP Solutions, Siemens, Mannai Energy, and Alliance Technologies.
This accreditation reflects Kahramaa’s commitment to promoting specialised professional practices in the field of energy efficiency and improving the quality of technical studies and recommendations. It contributes to identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption, enhancing the operational efficiency of systems and equipment, minimizing electricity and water wastage, and supporting the State’s efforts to achieve environmental sustainability and conserve natural resources.
The accreditation of these companies represents an important step towards establishing a list of qualified Energy Services Companies that meet clearly defined technical requirements and standards. This strengthens confidence in energy efficiency services, including consumption efficiency audits, and assists both public and private sector entities in making informed decisions regarding the implementation of efficiency improvement projects and achieving measurable savings in electricity and water consumption.
Kahramaa’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department oversees the ESCOs accreditation process, including the development of technical requirements and standards, review of applications and supporting documents, verification of technical capabilities and experience of applicant companies, and monitoring compliance with the applicable regulations and requirements.
The department also contributes to developing the sector and enhancing the quality of its services, thereby supporting the identification of measurable savings opportunities.
