DOHA: Goals from Nam Tae-Hee and Mohammed Mousa helped 10-man Lekhwiya edge Al Gharafa 2-1 in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) match yesterday.
Tae-Hee scored in the 15th minute, while Mousa netted in the 36th.
Al Gharafa scored straight after Mousa’s goal thanks to Mohammed Yasser (38).
Lekhwiya captain Majid Bougherra was given his marching orders two minutes from full-time for a challenge in the penalty box.
The defender received a second yellow card but Al Gharafa missed the resulting spotkick.
The result moves Lekhwiya to fourth position in the standings while Al Gharafa are in 9th spot.
Elsewhere in other QSL matches yesterday, Eljaish crushed Muaither 4-2 to move to third spot in the league standings.
Abdullah Ayesh (31), Mohammed El Sayed (37), Kalou Yoshi (39) put Razvan Lucescu’s side 3-0 up at half-time.
Wagner Ribeiro added Eljaish’s fourth in the 74th minute, after Muaither’s Campos reduced the deficit in the 69th minute.
Campos later scored three minutes from time for the visitors, who now occupy 13th spot.
In another match yesterday, Al Kharaitiyat beat Al Ahli 3-1.
Domenjos Dos Santos (23), Jesse John (32) and Joseph Kadioa (68) scored for Al Kharaitiyat, who are now in eighth spot.
Al Ahli’s only goal came through Elian Djoko (47). Al Ahli occupy 10th position in the standings. THE PENINSULA
