Brazil’s President and Workers’ Party (PT) presidential candidate Dilma Rousseff gestures to photographers after voting in the run-off election in Porto Alegre yesterday. After a contentious campaign, Brazilian polls opened amid tight security as voters headed out to elect their next president. Some 143 million people were choosing between Rousseff, who final opinion polls showed had a narrow edge, and Social Democrat Aecio Neves, scion of a famous political family.
