Doha: Henk van Hout, Head of Education Services, Shell International, was on Thursday welcomed by Chris Charleson, Headmaster, International School of London Qatar (ISL Qatar), to the library and media resource area called ‘The Hub’.
Van Hout was instrumental in helping the school during its start-up phase. Shell Qatar donated funds to support the opening of the library in the first year of the school. He unveiled a commemorative plaque — a permanent reminder of ongoing support from Shell and the importance of ‘The Hub’ as the school’s centre of learning.
He urged young students to read, saying “when you are reading a book, you can be transported to another world”. He said when he was a kid he didn’t always go to sleep when he was meant to and enjoyed “reading with a torch under his blanket”.
ISL Qatar is committed to fostering love of reading and is providing students, staff and parents with increasing access to in-print and online books, and other literary and educational media.
