DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has announced precautionary measures to prevent food poisoning, following the recent incident in which more than 20 people fell sick after eating from a popular restaurant in Frij Klaib.
The ministry closed down Marmara Istanbul outlet for 60 days and an investigation into the incident is in progress.
In a posting on its Facebook account, the ministry said in case of such incidents, surprise inspections will be conducted at all branches of erring outlets to ensure they comply with health requirements.
Civic inspectors investigating the restaurant incident checked all food items, including vegetables, meat, cheese and water to know their source (suppliers) on the same day.
They collected samples for Central Food Laboratory at Supreme Council of Health, inspected materials used for cleaning tables and areas where food and salad were prepared and stored, including the refrigerators.
The Health Monitoring Department at the ministry also recommended to transfer all workers at the restaurant to Hamad General Hospital for check-up. The Peninsula
