Doha: In line with ‘Cancer Awareness Month’ activities worldwide, Lulu Hypermarket Group has joined hands with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) to raise awareness about breast cancer, help reduce the incidence, help the community stay well, get well and fight the disease effectively. Breast cancer is the second most common in women.
The month, marked across the world in October involving thousands of organisations, helps increase attention to and support for awareness, early detection and treatment and palliative care of the disease.
Many women can survive breast cancer if it’s detected and treated early. Early detection remains the cornerstone of breast cancer control. Many screening modalities, including  mammogram and MRI,  can help detect breast cancer effectively.
The month-long campaign also aims to provide information on cancer prevention to customers visiting Lulu outlets through healthy lifestyles, creating awareness about the disease and screening modalities for early detection, empowering them to make better choices regarding health and wellness.
Lulu Group has put danglers in its outlets and all female sales staff are advised to wear awareness uniforms and tags during the month. LED screens in the showrooms display awareness tips and informative sessions on the subject and initiatives have been taken to demonstrate the same on social media networks to educate the public on the rising incidence of breast cancer. It The management said, “Lulu and QCS will work together to help create a world with less breast cancer cases and more healthy dietary habits within the framework of Lulu’s endeavours towards corporate social responsibility. We hope Lulu-QCS collaboration will increase awareness and help reduce the chance of developing the disease and mortality.”
