Doha, Qatar: Al Sailiya have appointed former Qatar international Majdi Siddiq as their new coach, replacing Mirghani Al Zain, who has been reassigned to oversee the club’s youth teams as general supervisor and technical director, the club announced in a statement yesterday.
Al Zain leaves the post after three seasons in charge. The club said the departure was reached by mutual agreement, with the coach having guided Al Sailiya back to the top flight in the 2024-25 season.
The coaching change comes as Al Sailiya struggle in the Qatar Stars League, where they are bottom of the standings with one point.
They have lost their last six matches, including a 6-1 defeat to Al Rayyan in their most recent outing.
Siddiq will take charge of the team for the first time when Al Sailiya face Lusail in the eighth round of the league on Saturday at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.
