DOHA: Guided tours are being held for Qatari artist Yousef Ahmad’s latest exhibition at Katara, as part of an education programme on his work.
During one of the tours, the artist gave students insight into his exciting career, explaining how his first job as an art teacher at Qatar University inspired him to use many local materials in his artworks, and encouraged students to do the same.
Titled Yousef Ahmad: Story of Ingenuity, the exhibition highlights the Qatari artist’s body of work through a selection of his most striking artworks from his early career in the 1970s until today. Yousef Ahmad: Story of Ingenuity is located at the QM Gallery, Building 10, Katara and on display until February 14.
Schools can register for a guided tour by emailing publicarteducation@qm.org.qa, and the artist himself will be visiting schools across Doha to give art workshops to students.
