DOHA: The Chairman and Board of Directors of the Commercial Bank of Qatar yesterday announced the appointment of Andrew C Stevens as Advisor to the Board of Directors.
Andrew, who has held a series of senior management roles at the Bank over the past 25 years, has resigned from his current role as Group Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect to assume the responsibilities of the new role.
His responsibilities will include advising the Board as well as representing Commercial Bank on the Board and Board Committees of the subsidiary and associate Banks, Alternatifbank in Turkey, United Arab Bank in the UAE and National Bank of Oman in Oman.
Andrew’s current responsibilities across the Group will henceforth be managed by Commercial Bank Chief Executive Officer, Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi and his executive team.
The Bank’s Chairman, Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali bin Jabor Al Thani, said: “I would like to congratulate Andrew on his appointment to this new role, and to extend my thanks on behalf of the Bank and the Board of Directors for his service over the past 25 years, when he held a number of the most senior leadership positions. His efforts over this period have contributed to the Bank’s growth to become the second-largest bank in the country. As Advisor to the Board of Directors his expertise and experience will contribute as the Bank continues to expand and grow.”
Hussain Alfardan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, added: “Andrew leaves his current position as Group CEO after a quarter of a century of service which saw Commercial Bank achieve its prominent position in the Qatar financial sector.
