DOHA: Wyndham Grand Regency Doha, in collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society, hosted a “Think Pink” breast cancer awareness event recently, inviting breast cancer survivors to give their testimonials and share their life changing experiences in honour of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event was customised in all things pink from ribbons and balloons to a buffet and gift items offered to all participants. Colleagues and associates from Wyndham Grand Regency Doha and Qatar Cancer Society joined together to show their support and to learn about the disease and how to create awareness within the community.
Guests like Sandee Thompson and Lenny Lopez also opened up to share their stories. “I had the perfect cancer,” said Sandee Thompson. “I was able to save my life by having a mammogram done at an earlier age than doctors recommend. If I had not done the mammogram I would not be standing here today.”
Lopez added “I have been cancer-free for eight years. I faced so many obstacles; I did not cry when I was told about my diagnosis, but when I had to tell my son I might die the tears kept falling.”
Listening to the survivors of breast cancer generates a real appreciation for the strength of survivors and potential for a cure.
