Mustafa Jameel Al Qatami, Director Branding & Corporate Communication in Qtel said: “Qatar’s National Day is a day of pride for us. Qtel celebrates this occasion and offers the chance to its customers through special offers to take part in those celebrations through different ways of communication.”
Al Qatami added: “Qtel has also conducted a contest on Qatar’s tradition and culture through social media, with many competing to win.”
More than 500,000 Hala and Shahry customers benefited from this incredible offer sending more than three million SMS messages and using an incredible 30 million minutes’ worth of local calls.
In fact, records from Qtel show that 19 December 2012 was the busiest day of the year on Qtel’s nationwide network.
For social media fans too, the Qatar National Day celebrations carried extra excitement, thanks to a special online quiz about Qatar’s culture and heritage.
Every day from 16-20 December, Qtel rewarded three contestants each from Facebook and Twitter with the latest tech gadgets.
Second and third place prizes included the Samsung Galaxy S3 and BlackBerry Bold 9790, while the winner received an iPad 3 tablet. On National Day, the grand prize was an Apple MacBook Pro laptop. Winners were presented with their prizes at a special celebration at the Qtel Headquarters this week. The contest helped to affirm Qtel’s leadership in using social media to connect with customers, especially youth.
