RIYADH: Saudi Interior Ministry praised the security achievement accomplished by the United Arab Emirates on arresting members of an organised cell of deviant group consisting of Saudi and UAE citizens who were plotting to carry out acts that would tamper with the national security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE and some brotherly countries.
Security Spokesman of the Interior Ministry Major General Mansour Al-Turkey confirmed in a statement issued by Saudi press agency (SPA) that the security cooperation and coordination is existing and continuing between the security concerned authorities in the two countries to reach whatever achieves the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
On Wednesday, UAE security authorities announced that in coordination with the relevant security bodies in Saudi Arabia, members of an organised cell of misguided Emirati and Saudi citizens plotting to carry out acts that would impinge on the national security of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and some brotherly countries have been detained.
The authorities said that investigations and continuous observation of these elements, undertaken within the framework of security coordination and cooperation between the two countries, had showed that these elements have imported material, equipment and devices with the intention of carrying out terrorist acts.
The security authorities added that, having become certain of the intention of these elements to harm the security of the country's citizens and residents, they had taken the necessary measures to detain them and to refer them to the Federal State Security Prosecutor for investigation. They will then be brought before the judicial authorities. (QNA)
