ZAMBOANGA CITY: A member of the rogue group Abu Sayyaf, who is believed to be involved in the kidnapping of two European bird watchers, was arrested by police on Wednesday, an official said yesterday.
Police identified the suspect as Haik Asgali alias Abu Aswad, 30, a nephew of Abu Sayyaf leader Radullan Sahiron. Asgali was arrested following a raid in a village in Jolo town, Sulu province at 10am on Wednesday. Asgali was involved in the kidnapping of Elwold Horn from the Netherlands and Lorenzo Vinceguerra from Switzerland last February 1.
