DOHA: Dar Al Sharq has appointed Dr Khalid Al-Jaber as the new editor-in-chief of The Peninsula.
He replaces Khalid Al Sayed, who resigned recently after more than six years at the helm.
Dr Khalid holds an MA in journalism from the University of Florida, USA, and has a PhD in political communication from the University of Leicester, UK.
Before assuming his new role, he was the Deputy Editor-In-Chief of Al Sharq, the sister Arabic daily of The Peninsula.
Dr Khalid Al-Jaber is also Assistant Professor of Political Communication, Gulf Studies Program, at Qatar University and a Visiting Fellow at the Northwestern University in Qatar.
He is also Principal at the Global Media Consultants organization, Atlanta, USA.
He is a scholar of Arab and Gulf studies specialising in media, political communication, culture, diplomacy and international relations.
He has published several books, and research papers in numerous academic and professional journals, including the World Press Encyclopedia.
