Islamabad - The canteen of Sir Syed Memorial Hall here on Friday caught fire with no major loss of life and property.
The fire erupted in the canteen of the building situated in G-5 and expanded in no time to the other rooms of the hall.
However, emergency and disasters management cell of the CDA quickly responded to the call and rushed to the place of incident. Vehicles of emergency and disasters management cell joined the fire tenders of Jinnah Convention Centre and started fire extinguishing operation.
The emergency and disasters management cell, however, controlled the fire with no major loss of life and property. Around 12 people stuck up in the building were also rescued safely.
The operation was carried out by the five fire tenders. No reason of fire was established immediately; however the possible reason of fire is believed to be electric short circuit. Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal has lauded the performance of firemen and rescuers for timely extinguishing the fire and rescuing 12 persons.
