A new destination has opened its doors to visitors keen to experience a Qatari traditional atmosphere in Al Wakra.
The Heritage Village of Al Wakra, dubbed the second Souq Waqif, is built to give an old and traditional look and make people feel they are walking through a commercial area existing for years.
Hundreds of shops, with mud-coated walls, roofs with palm leaf ceilings and big wooden doors, resemble Qatari traditional homes.
Located near Al Wakra Corniche, it also showcases a row of dhows. With some restaurants and sweets shops opening recently, the Heritage Village has started receiving visitors though it will officially open soon. It will also host handcraft makers, traditional instrument sellers and a pearl museum.
