Police arrest 80 suspects in Peshawar

PESHAWAR -- In order to thwart any sabotage bid in the city, police launched a major search operation in Faqirabad area and arrested 80 suspected persons, including illegal Afghan refugee.
Armed with sophisticated weapons, heavy contingent of police raided different places of Faqirabad and rounded up 80 suspected persons. Police said that several persons involved in kidnapping and target killing have also been arrested during the operation. The areas where search operation was launched include Zaryab colony, Afghan Colony, Fatang Chawak and Charsadda road.  Police have been directed to launch search and clean-up operation in surrounding areas of Peshawar. In cantonment area, security forces launched search operation and sealed a hospital, which is believed to provide medical aid to suspected militants. Security forces have also arrested some militants in injured condition from there.
According to sources, security forces prepared another list of persons who provided help and facilitated terrorists in the province. They said that most of the facilitators belong to Kohat district and FATA.
Police have blocked all the internal and external routes in Shahkas and Achini Bala areas where they had erected blockades to avert entry of any suspected person from tribal area as well as from Peshawar to tribal area. They are frisking every suspected person, asking about their identity.
Women police also raided various houses in Hayat Abad area and asked about the Identity Cards and whereabouts of those who are living in rented houses and migrated from militancy-hit areas.
