Training course on community policing strategy

Doha: The Policing Training Institute is holding a training course on community policing strategy for future leaders. It is  being held in collaboration with Northern Ireland Cooperation Foundation. The course started yesterday and will continue until February 7. Eight officers from various security departments are participating in the course.

It was opened by Brig Dr Mohammed Abdullah Al Mahanna Al Marri, Director of the Police Training Institute. 

He hoped that the course output will reflect in the performance by achieving the strategic goals of the community aimed at strengthening its role in the prevention of crime and limiting its spread.

The course aims at providing the participants with information, skills and understanding of contemporary community policing work style, and help them implement sustainable and professional community policing programme on strategic and operational levels through integration with the community.

The session will discuss a number of topics such as comprehending the concepts of community policing, police work based on problems and integration with society, identifying  basic issues and problems related to the design and implementation of community policing strategy and measuring its performance. 

As well as identifying the key challenges facing  community policing in Qatar.
