Bamako: Four soldiers were killed in Mali and four others were missing during an attack on their base in the northeastern city of Menaka Sunday.

Mali military source said that gunmen killed four soldiers in Menaka, north-east of Mali, near the border with Niger, targeting the camp with rockets but could not control the camp, adding that the situation was under control.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but local sources have speculated that it would be carried out by the Abu Walid Al-Sahraoui group which is loyal to ISIS and active on the border with Niger.

In recent days, armed groups have launched several attacks in several areas in northern, southern and central Mali, killing dozens of soldiers. (QNA)
