Blast wounds 8 southwest Baghdad

BAGHDAD: Two explosive devices went off southwest Baghdad on Thursday wounding eight civilians.

According to police sources the two explosive devices went off consecutively and security forces imposed a security cordon around the site of the blasts and transported the injured to hospital.

In another incident, the Iraqi Ministry of Justice released 173 prisoners and detainees, including 13 women from the prisons of the Ministry of Justice after being acquittal by the Iraqi judiciary.

Hussain al-Shahristani, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister who is also Chairman of the Ministerial Committee to implement the legitimate demands of protesters, said in a news conference:

"All prisoners have the right to set up lawsuits against those who attacked them during the period of imprisonment or spending imprisonment without being convicted to be compensated." (QNA)
