Al Gharafa down Qatar SC as Al Ahli edge Al Shamal

Doha: Al Gharafa produced a dominating performance in both the sessions to overcome their higher ranked opponents Qatar SC 2-1 at the Qatar Stars League, yesterday at their own backyard.    
Qatar SC, placed fourth on the QSL standings before the tie, never looked comfortable as seventh-placed Al Gharafa which displayed an aggressive performance throughout the match
Moayad Hassan Fedaily scored the first goal in the 35th minute for Al Gharafa with Ibrahim Abdulla Alghanim scoring the winner in the 70th minute, nine minutes after Hamdi Harbaoui netted the equaliser for the home side.
Meanwhile, Mashael Abdulla Abdulla scored a brace to spur Al Ahli to a 3-2 win over Al Shamal at the Al Arabi Stadium.
Elsewhere, Umm Salal prevailed over Al Wakra 2-1 while Al Khor defeated Al Shahaniya 3-2  to claim winning points.
As many as three matches will be played today including the eagerly-awaited clash between Al Sadd and defending champions Lekhwiya. THE PENINSULA
