Doha: Ooredoo will showcase ‘smart’ technologies at GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from March 2 to 5 as the company continues to develop new life-enhancing services to serve customers across its footprint.
The theme of the congress is ‘The Edge of Innovation’, and Ooredoo will demonstrate how it supports customers’ digital lifestyle through innovation and new thinking.
New services will be on display at the Ooredoo Pavilion in Hall 2, including four sections for Smart City; Machine-to-Machine (M2M); Smart Education; and Smart Stadium technology.
Dr Nasser Marafih, Group CEO, Ooredoo, said: “The company’s smart solutions offer the potential for us to transform our customers’ lives by reducing energy usage, enabling greater automation and providing more people with faster access to a world of information and educational materials.
“By deploying our bigger and faster networks, we believe that Ooredoo can play a leadership role in introducing these services across our footprint and we are committed to being the first to deliver on this opportunity.”
Visitors to the congress will be able to see Smart City technology in action, including control centre solutions that manage smart metering, gated community access control and CCTV surveillance services. Ooredoo is working to introduce some of these services, most recently becoming a lead partner in Smart Cities Council in Qatar and organising a major conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, to discuss the potential for smart cities in Southeast Asia.
The Smart Learning section will demonstrate end-to-end solutions that offer Smart Learning experiences for children and adults. It will also showcase next generation Mobile Device Management services that enable schools to communicate with students and teachers through their devices. Ooredoo’s Wataniya Mobile in Palestine has launched Learn English services for mobiles to enable young people to develop language skills.
Ooredoo is taking on a leadership role is M2M technologies to enable ‘Internet of Things’ solutions and will host an M2M demonstration to showcase some of its  solutions, including new innovations for the energy, transport and financial sectors.
It will showcase intelligent network solutions to provide fans at the pavilion and viewers around the world with up-to-the-moment information and results at sporting events.
