BARCELONA: As curtains come down today on Mobile World Congress (MWC)  Barcelona 2019, Chinese tech giant Huawei has once again proved its formidable presence at one of the world’s largest annual event on the mobile technology industry attracting thousands of visitors to its vast exhibition space.

The biggest among hundreds of participating exhibitors, Huawei’s elaborately designed main pavilion has been a major crowd-puller at the four-day event being held at Fira de Barcelona under the banner “Intelligent Connections.”

Many of the visitors who thronged the different sections of Huawei’s massive pavilion were in awe of the sheer number and variety of emerging technologies on show — from 5G and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud, in addition to its brand new ICT products and solutions.

Obviously, Huawei Mate X, said to be the world’s fastest 5G foldable phone launched on the eve of MWC19 opening, is the star of the show. Visitors, who turn up in large numbers to see the phone behind a glass case, couldn’t wait when it goes on sale second quarter of this year.

“It’s the most head-turning foldable phone I’ve seen to date and it’s so unique because it’s the only one with 5G,” said Chris Smith, one of the visitors who expressed interest to be one of the first proud owners of the phone.

With its attractive design and multitude of features and functions, Smith believes it’s definitely worth the 2,299 euros price tag.

Foldable phones, IoT, immersive content and 5G are among the main themes at this year’s congress.

Simplified 5G sites, architecture, protocols, and operations & maintenance (O&M) are among the end-to-end 5G products and solutions Huawei is showcasing at the event, offerings set to help operators quickly deploy 5G networks on a large scale. Huawei has also launched the SoftCOM AI solution, which will help build autonomous driving networks of the future and maximize the value of telecom networks.

The industry’s fastest OceanStor Dorado series all flash storage, the world’s first AI-powered data center switch, the world’s first Wi-Fi 6 access point (AP) for commercial use, and the X series cameras – the world’s first AI-powered software-defined cameras were among the multitude of products on show at Huawei’s main pavilion.

Apart from the exhibitions, Huawei also hosts forums and keynotes as well as hold a wide range of discussions with operator customers and partners from around the world at MWC19.
