Cabinet hails initiatives of Arab summit

Doha: The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, appreciated the outcomes of the 24th ordinary session of the Arab Summit held in Doha on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The Cabinet welcomed the initiatives, resolutions and positions included in the Doha Declaration issued at the end of the summit. 

Such initiatives and resolutions would contribute to taking joint Arab action to a new stage, paving the way for more effective Arab stance and constituting a grand impetus to Arab drive to reach urgent and fair solutions to pressing Arab causes, with the Palestinian cause at the centre. 

After the session, the Deputy Prime Minister and  Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said the meeting approved the rent allowance granted to beneficiaries of the housing system.

It is aimed to provide social care to beneficiaries of the system to help them bear rents.

The Cabinet approved a draft decree ensuring obligations of the government to the newly-emerged Qatar aircraft sukuk company’s Islamic bonds or sukuk.  

It approved two Cabinet draft decisions on forming a grievance committee at Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) and appointing its chairman and members. 

The committee is assigned to study grievances with regard to penal decisions QFMA issues. Decisions can be challenged before the competent chamber of the Court of Appeal.

This committee is formed under the chairmanship of one of the presidents at the Court of Appeal.

Its members include two of the judges at the court and two others with long experiences in securities transactions. 

The Cabinet also endorsed a draft bylaw of the Central Municipal Council (CMC).

The CMC prepared the draft to be in consistent with amendments to its related law as per Law No. 11 of 2011 which changed some provisions of Law No. 12 of 1998 organising the election law.  

The Cabinet approved Qatar joining the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent.       QNA
