DOHA: Qatar Science Leadership Programme (QSLP), the nation’s leading science and research management programme, will be hosting an information session for those interested in pursuing a career in this prestigious field.

The event at Texas A&M University today will provide attendees with the opportunity to understand the programme elements, including track options, application criteria and relevant dates for enrolment.

“QSLP is proving to be valuable to the research enterprise in Qatar,” said Dr Wyatt Hume, Director of Education, Training and Development at Qatar Foundation’s Research Division.

Dr Abdelali Haoudi, Executive Director, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) stated that the institute has benefitted from QSLP trainees who have served in our project management. “Because of the structure of QSLP, with trainees moving from one research area to another, QSLP members bring a diversity of experience and fresh ideas,” he said.

Introduced by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in 2008, QSLP has become one of Qatar’s greatest resources for producing scientific talent. QSLP achieved a significant milestone with the introduction of two new programmes designed for undergraduates and post-doctoral candidates. Over 50 young Qataris have enrolled and are pursuing careers in specialised fields including stem cell research, biomedicine, environmental sustainability and biostatistics.
