Doha: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) kicked off celebrations of Supreme Council of Health’s (SCH) campaign of Immunisation Week under the slogan ‘Stop Measles Now’ this year.
A team from Al Khor Health Center distributed pamphlets about the importance of measles eradication among the visitors at Al Khor Mall.
Hussein Nimer, PHCC Head Nurse at Al Khor Health Center, highlighted that the celebration of the immunisation campaign, from April 24 to 30, is an opportunity for the community to learn about the importance of the use of vaccines and protecting people of all ages against measles.
“We need to increase awareness among the community by giving information of being vaccinated against measles,” Nimer said.
PHHC under the guidelines of SCH, and the recommendations of the World Health Organisation’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office’s (WHO-EMRO), aims to eradicate measles syndrome from Qatar by 2015 as consequence of the 160 cases of this infection that were reported in the country last year.
