Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulation to King of the Netherlands on the occasion of his country’s National Day, to the President of the Republic of South Africa on the occasion of his country’s National Day, to the President of the Republic of Togo on the occasion of the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day, and to the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone on the occasion of his country’s National Day. The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent similar cables.
Doha: The Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah met here yesterday with the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Qatar Najim Ritsa. The Bosnian ambassador handed the Foreign Minister a written message from Bosnian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdzija.
Doha: The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari met with Dr Luis Jaime Castillo, the vice-minister of culture, heritage and cultural industries in the Republic of Peru, who is now visiting Qatar. They discussed mechanisms of boosting and implementing the bilateral accord on cultural cooperation and which was signed in February 2014 in Doha. During the meeting, Dr Luis Jaime Castillo handed Dr Al Kuwari an invitation from Luis Jaime, the Minister of Culture of Peru, to visit Peru as soon as possible.
Washington: Qatar Invest-ment Authority (QIA) CEO H E Ahmad bin Mohamed Al Sayed, now visiting Washington, held a series of formal meetings with senior US officials. Al Sayed met with Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, John Podesta, the senior adviser to the US President; Daniel Poneman, the Deputy Secretary of Energy, and Ambassador Charles Rivkin, the Assistant state secretary for Economic and Business Affairs. He also met with Governor of the state of Virginia, Terry Macaulf, Vincent Gray, mayor of Washington, DC, and Michael Nutter, the Mayor of the City of Philadelphia. During these separate meetings, Al Sayed discussed a set of issues pertaining to boosting and bolstering economic and investment relations between Qatar and the USA. H E Mohamed bin Jaaham Al Kuwari attended these meetings with members of the delegation accompanying the CEO of QIA.
Doha: The Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah met with Grenadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Business Nickolas Steele. Bilateral relations and ways to develop them in addition to several topics of mutual interest were discussed.
Doha: The Court of Cassation signed a twin agreement with its Jordanian counterpart with a view to enhancing ties of cooperation in various domains. The agreement was signed for Qatar by Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) H E Massoud Mohamed Al Amri who is also President of the Court of Cassation, and for Jordan by President of the Court of Cassation Hisham Al Tal who is also chairman of the Jordanian Judicial Council.
