DOHA: A theatrical show titled “Al Ghorba” (Emigration) featured the fourth day of ‘The Palestinian Heritage week’, organised by Katara in collaboration with the Palestinian Qatari Friendship Association.
Al Ghorba includes a folk dance performed by boys and girls wearing old Palestinian customs and speeches that reflect the pain and struggle of the Palestinian People. A large number of Palestinian families and Katara visitors who attended the show lauded it as well as the other activities for reflecting the Palestinian heritage and for telling the story of their struggle and emigration.
Jihan from Palestine said such shows should be encouraged to introduce the young to Palestinian history and culture and remind the audience of their struggles through history. “The lecture provided value information on Palestine in terms of history and the art of photography. The Palestinian Heritage Week has a special character and was attended by a large public,” said Hassan Al Ansari, a Qatari citizen.
The traditional crafts exhibition continues until tomorrow. Palestinian Historian Dr Khalil Shawka will also present lecture on the history of photography in Palestine tomorrow. The live Palestinian folklore show presented by “Ibdaa’ Band for Palestinian Folklore Dance” had massive attendance of different nationalities. It was followed by traditional folk songs by “Aaskalan Band for Traditional Songs and Palestinian Folklore”.
