Al Kharaitiyat rallied from a three-goal deficit to edge Al Ahli 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out and book a place in the quarter-finals of the Emir Cup football championship.
Al Ahli were leading by three goals till the 61st minute but Al Kharaitiyat made a splendid recovery to score three in the next half an hour, including a last-minute goal, to draw level and force a penalty shootout at Al Arabi Stadium.
In the tie-breaker, Al Kharaitiyat were on target four times while Al Ahli could find the net only twice.
Al Kharaitiyat will now meet Al Sadd in the last eight stage of the championship on May 5 at Lekhwiya Stadium.
In the other quarter-finals Al Rayyan take on Al Gharafa on May 3 while the following day Lekhwiya meet Al Khor.
Al Khor stormed into the quarter-finals after winning a thrilling penalty shoot-out with Al Sailiyah 4-3.
Gharafa on the other hand reached the quarter-finals with 2-0 win over Mesaimeer.
In the last quarter-finals, El Jaish will take on Umm Salal, who defeated Shahania 2-1 yesterday.
The semi-finals will be held on May 13 and 14.
The final will take place on May 19.
