Doha, Qatar: MES Indian School (Evening Shift), Doha, marked World Book Day on April 23, 2026 with vibrant and engaging activities that celebrated the joy of reading. Students across all grades participated enthusiastically in competitions designed to inspire creativity and language skills.
Grades 1 and 2 enjoyed a colouring activity, bringing their favourite book characters to life. Students of Grades 3 and 4 took part in a Picture Story Competition, crafting imaginative stories from visual prompts.
The Spelling Bee Competition for Grades 5 and 6 highlighted students’ vocabulary and spelling proficiency, while students of Grades 7 to 9 impressed with thoughtful presentations in the Book Review Competition.
A special highlight for all grades was the display of favourite book quotes on colourful cards in the library. Additionally, students from Grades 3 to 9 showcased their artistic talents in the “Design a Book Cover” competition.
A dedicated reading time was also observed, during which students and staff alike immersed themselves in books and printed materials, reinforcing the importance of regular reading habits.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Senior Vice Principal Shihabudeen Pulath and Headmistress Sameena Ashfaq, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing a lifelong love for reading.
